Trinity Church in Vladimir

The Old Believers' Trinity Church, which in Vladimir is called the Red Church, was built between 1913 and 1916 with money from Old Believer merchants. The building is laid in red brick in a pseudo-Byzantine manner and finished with a tall bell tower under a tented roof. After the church was closed the structure was to be pulled down to make room for a coach park, but it was successfully defended. Since 1974 it has housed the museum of crystal, lacquer miniature and embroidery, with a collection of Gus glass and Mstyora painting. The church stands right beside the Golden Gate and serves as the first sign of the historic centre for those entering the city from the west.
