Baiterek

An observation tower in the centre of Astana on the left bank, built between 1997 and 2002 and grown into the symbol of the city. Its structure follows the Kazakh legend of the bird Samruk, which lays an egg in the branches of a poplar, so that steel branches hold a golden sphere at a height of 97 metres, the year the capital was moved. Inside the sphere is a viewing platform with a view all around.
