Pskov Krom

Attraction·Псков·Russia

A stone fortress at the confluence of the Velikaya and the Pskova, the core of the city and the seat of its veche republic. The walls and towers seen today were mostly laid in the 15th century; the Great Gate leads in through a zakhab, a narrow corridor between walls where attackers found themselves trapped. At the centre stands the Trinity Cathedral, the fourth church to occupy the spot.
