Azadi Tower

A monument some 45 metres high on Azadi Square, at the western entrance to Tehran. It was built in 1971 to a design by Hossein Amanat for the 2500th anniversary of the Persian empire and was called Shahyad before the revolution. The tower is faced with white Isfahan marble, a museum complex works inside, and a viewing platform is set at the top.
