Wuhualou Tower

Attraction·Дали·China

Wuhualou stands in the middle of Fuxing Street, at the crossing of the main axes of the old town of Dali. The first tower here was raised in 856 by the rulers of Nanzhao, and it served as the hall in which envoys and guests of the state were received. The building burned and was restored more than once, and the present version, with three tiers of roofs on a massive stone base, was put together in 1998. A stream of pedestrians passes through the arch in the base, while the galleries look out over the trading street and the Cangshan mountains. In the evening the tower is lit and becomes the chief landmark of a walk after dark.
