Hisor Fortress

A hilltop stronghold twenty kilometres from Dushanbe that guarded the entrance to the Hisor valley. Of the fortress itself only the ramparts and the steep slopes of the hill remain, while the stone gate with its two round towers, put up in the sixteenth century, has been fully restored. From the crest of the wall a view opens over the valley and the buildings of the reserve.
