Monumen Serangan Umum 1 Maret 1949 commemorates the Indonesian offensive in Yogyakarta on 1 March 1949. Guerrilla forces held the city for six hours, an episode remembered locally as “Six Hours in Yogyakarta.” The monument stands on Jalan Panembahan Senopati beside Fort Vredeburg. Its memorial wall and sculptural group depict the same event, while the inscription gives the monument’s official name. It makes a clear stop on a walk through the historic centre, with the fort and Malioboro nearby.
