Green Mosque (Mausoleum of Khwaja Abu Nasr Parsa)

The shrine of the theologian Khwaja Abu Nasr Parsa, who died in Balkh in 1460. The building is called the Green Mosque after the colour of its ribbed dome, twisted columns rise on either side of the tall portal, and the facing is laid in glazed tiles. A park is set out in front of the mosque, and the city bazaar begins just beyond it.
