Belfry of the Dormition Cathedral

The belfry beside the Dormition Cathedral was built in two stages during the 1680s. Its largest bell is the Sysoy, cast in 1688 and named in memory of the father of Metropolitan Iona, and together with the Polieleiny and the Swan it gives the foundation of the Rostov chimes, which are still recorded and rung today.
